Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Recap

Author: BC Tech Association

On Thursday, November 19th, the BCTIA presented the second annual Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) – Vancouver. Part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, WED provided an opportunity for new connections and inspiration, as over 70 members of the community gathered together to mingle, network, and share stories.

The evening kicked off with an inspirational story from guest speaker Linda Miller as she described her journey as a female entrepreneur and how far she has come over the past 18 years. We also got to hear from Nat Cartwright, Co-Founder of fintech company Payso, as she gave an honest and memorable account of how she recovered from the darkest days she faced running a startup. Finally, we heard from Linda Ducharme, Co-Founder of Outsidein Communications, who shared three pieces of wisdom she has picked up over her 15-year long entrepreneurial journey: to trust yourself, to challenge your preconceived notions of yourself, and to be flexible and adaptable.

We would like to extend a special thank you to our Gold sponsor, SAP Canada, who helped make the event possible, as well as our presenting partners Futurpreneur, Women in Communications and Technology (WCT BC), the Minerva Foundation, SCWIST, and WEB Alliance.

Thank you to everyone who attended this great evening to celebrate women in business and the significant contributions they make to drive Canada’s economy. See you at next year’s event!
