Spotlight on... RESAAS

In this week’s spotlight, we are highlighting a company that provides a platform for the real estate industry. RESAAS is a social and global referral network for real estate professionals. When RESAAS isn’t too busy providing agents and brokers with networking tools to stay top-of-mind with clients, they are usually out and about, socializing in Gastown. Whether it’s Power Mondays, Foodee Wednesdays, or Beer o’clock Fridays, RESAAS knows how to have fun while getting things done. Read on to learn more what life is like at RESAAS…

1. Describe your company and your primary product(s) and/or service(s).

RESAAS is a cloud-based social business platform for the real estate services industry. We have created a professional social networking platform and a suite of tools which integrate with the platform, including an enterprise social network, a global referral network, lead generation engine, listing management, client engagement modules, customer relationship management (CRM) tools, analytics, file sharing and an advertising engine. These tools and functionality are made available exclusively to owners of real estate brokerage firms and brokers, licensed real estate agents, and Realtors® and are designed to increase user productivity through better communication and collaboration between users. RESAAS has over 350,000 real estate professionals using the platform to date in over 110 countries.

RESAAS is located in the trendy area of Gastown with the hottest restaurants, cafes and boutique shops. We’re in great company with many other tech companies in the same neighbourhood.

RESAAS employees benefit from free transit passes… so wherever you live, the expense of a daily commute is no longer a worry!

4. Describe the culture at your company.

The culture at RESAAS is something to be proud of. We have fun while we work but at the end of the day, we get the job done.

We start the week off with Power Monday. Each week, a different team member brings a snack to share with the entire office. We take a break around 3pm to have a snack and socialize before finishing up the day.

We always look forward to Wednesday lunches. Each Wednesday, Foodee delivers a yummy lunch to be enjoyed by the RESAAS team. Some of our favourites are Finches and Tacofino. This breaks up the routine of having to bring leftovers for lunch every weekday!

Beer o’clock Fridays is one of the more recent traditions at RESAAS. We use our general Slack channel to gather everyone in the kitchen to share a beer before we break for the weekend. It’s a great way to start the weekend off right!

We have flexible work hours, which allows the staff to easily manage their personal and work lives. To encourage collaboration, we have open workspaces that allow employees to interact easily. Weekly team meetings are a regular occurrence and company transparency is welcomed. Monthly company-wide meetings are organized as well as monthly company events. Some events to highlight would be rock climbing, virtual golf at One Under and a scavenger hunt in Gastown.

Some of the words our employees use to describe the culture at RESAAS are: passionate, hard-working, fun, friendly, dedicated, inspiring, positive, and motivated.

5. What does your leadership team (and company as a whole) do to support/grow that culture?

Our entire leadership team is very hands on. You’ll find them sitting next to our marketing, engineering and sales departments on any given day. If there is a company need, there is a solution that gets implemented as quickly as possible.

RESAAS experienced significant growth in terms of our company size over a short period of time. As expected, some growing pains came along with this. It was more important than ever to maintain the culture we had worked so hard to achieve. Our leadership worked as a cohesive team to reflect this within each department and company-wide as well.

Company leaders prioritize organizing 1-on-1 meetings with their individual team members. This allows us to make sure we are supporting each employee in every way possible. It allows for open communication and a chance to build a relationship of trust amongst the various teams.

We welcome any ideas for growing our culture. Whether it’s a company policy or recommendation for an upcoming event, we want to hear about it!

6. When your employees talk about your company, what do they brag about?

The people, the team, the staff…oh and, the people. We spend the most time with the people we work with so it’s a good sign when everyone talks about RESAAS as a company, they talk about how their favourite part is the people they work with.

7. Describe your most recent achievement, milestone, reason for bragging rights.

In December 2014, we announced that we had reached the 300,000 user mark of verified real estate professionals on our platform.

Most recently, we announced our second agreement in place with RE/MAX, LLC, the franchisor of the global RE/MAX network. RESAAS has created a Social Learning Platform that is exclusive to RE/MAX agents. This new platform is the only multilingual-capable file share solution available for global real estate franchises.

8. What is your company goal for the coming year?

A new employee can expect to work towards our common goal of becoming “the platform for all things real estate”.

We have already built a service that helps real estate agents generate more business. Now we’re maturing from a business network into a wider platform to consolidate the fractured real estate industry at large. RESAAS is turning the real estate industry the right way up, with endorsement and support from a rapidly growing customer base of large real estate brokerages, franchises and MLSs.
