1. Describe your company and your primary product(s) and/or service(s).
We provide security and data risk management solutions for a variety of industries. Our Persistence® technology is embedded in the firmware of computers, laptops, smartphones, and tablets through partnerships with the world’s largest manufacturers including Dell, HP, Samsung, Lenovo, among many others. Our technology is embedded in more than half a billion devices worldwide.
2. How many employees currently work at your company?
We have about 440 employees globally and we are growing!
3. Where are you located?
Absolute has called Vancouver home since we started the business in 1993. We are headquartered in Bentall IV, at 1055 Dunsmuir Street. The central location makes for an easy commute for staff and lots of great options for lunch.
Our other major offices are in Austin, TX and Reading, UK.
4. Describe the culture at your company.
We are experiencing a lot of growth at Absolute Software. We operate at a fast pace environment, but we still value work life balance. We have a Fun Team here who is responsible for planning appreciation events and perks for our employees on a monthly basis. We value the hard work from our employees and we want to make sure that we continue to appreciate them through this growth period at Absolute Software.
5. What does your leadership team (and company as a whole) do to support/grow that culture?
We believe that a good idea can happen anytime, anywhere. So culturally, we’re all encouraged to openly discuss new and better ways to support our customers and each other. These discussions have led to tangible improvements and net-new features that we’ve proudly implemented. Our leadership team openly supports this style of open door culture, ensuring everyone has access to programs that support professional growth including mentorship programs and lunch & learns.
6. When your employees talk about your company, what do they brag about?
We are proud of the hard work we do. The collaboration and support we show one another at Absolute is the foundation of a great work environment. We are also a curious group, encouraged to pursue interests outside of our main scope of work. It’s easy to stay engaged when you can actively discover new interests and develop new skills.
We also like to take credit for the elevators smelling like popcorn on Tuesdays and pizza on Fridays.
7. Describe your most recent achievement, milestone, reason for bragging rights.
It has been a brag-worthy year in many respects. We have a new CEO who has introduced a new, infectious energy to the office; we’ve posted record earnings, and our share price is at an 8-year high. We are incredibly optimistic about our future!
Our technology has received incredible distinction. Absolute is featured on two Gartner, Inc. Magic Quadrants – the Magic Quadrant for Client Management Tools and the Magic Quadrant for Mobile Device Management Software. We are one of only four global vendors to be recognized on both Magic Quadrants.
We’ve also been recognized as one of BC’s Top Employers and one of Canada’s Top Small and Medium Sized Employers.
8. What kinds of roles are you hiring for?
We are hiring across the board in all areas of our business globally. The majority of our roles have been in Sales and Development.
We are looking for A-players who want to be a part of the growth here at Absolute Software.
Some of the roles we are recruiting for are: Sr. Java Developer, C++ Developer, .NET Developer, Systems Administrator, Customer Support Specialist, and various sales roles.
9. What kinds of people are you looking for?
It is important to us that we find people who want to be a part of something extraordinary and want to be a part of our growth. We are constantly changing and we move quickly with multiple priorities. We have a very close group of people here so we are definitely looking for someone who is a strong cultural fit for our teams.
We are a friendly bunch here and we love to snack (they feed us fruit on Mondays, popcorn on Tuesdays, and baked goodies on Thursdays…not to mention Pizza Fridays,….and things like that)
