On March 4th, 2015, the BCTIA held its own version of speed dating as it hosted the invitation-only InvestFX. Powered by KPMG and taking place at the Four Seasons Hotel, over thirty of Vancouver’s most prominent angel investors were introduced to six of the city’s most eligible, up-and-coming technology companies with the hopes that sparks and investment would fly.

Once the doors were locked, each entrepreneur had 10 minutes to pitch their venture and business opportunity to each investor group. This rapid fire format kept conversations lively and flowing as the investor ‘teams’ circulated amongst the companies.

Each stop on the tour also included a sample of a unique BC wine, and throughout the evening Bill Tam did his best Chris Harrison (of Bachelor and Bachelorette fame) impression in the hopes that a match would be made.

As the conversations wrapped in InvestFX, the inaugural Founders & Funders Reception was just getting started across the hall. Designed to bring the people that start tech companies together with the people that fund them, Founders & Funders welcomed an additional 50 technology entrepreneurs and investors as well as three featured companies; Optigo, Marketing.AI and Navarik.

At the end of the night, both InvestFX and Founders & Funders received high praise and positive feedback from entrepreneurs and investors alike.
