Clevest Solutions Inc., a leading provider of mobile workforce management and smart grid operations software solutions, has been selected by FortisBC Energy Inc. for Mobile Workforce Management software to transform certain elements of its Operations business unit. The utility chose Clevest to enhance safety, streamline and simplify business processes, consolidate and reduce the number of technology systems used to perform work, and bring the gas and electric divisions onto a common workforce management platform.

FortisBC is a subsidiary of Fortis Inc., and provides natural gas through FortisBC Energy and electricity through FortisBC Inc. The utility is the largest distributor of natural gas in the greater Pacific Northwest and provides 21% of all energy in BC, with a service territory covering 1.1 million customers in 135 communities, 48,700km of natural gas pipelines and 7,200km of electric power lines. Clevest’s solution will be used to automate work to their 390 mobile users and 160 office users supporting their gas operations, adding to the existing 150 mobile and 100 office users in their electric division.

FortisBC Energy’s single-phase deployment of Clevest Mobile Workforce Management includes scheduling, appointment booking, timesheets, complex and long-cycle work orders, service orders, street level routing and route optimization, disaster recovery, business intelligence, and configuration capabilities. Clevest’s software will interface with SAP Add-On components and GE Smallworld’s geospatial system. In addition, GIS data will be extracted from GE Smallworld into Esri ArcGIS by Clevest’s data management partner Spatial Business Systems.

“Clevest’s unique capabilities to automate all utility work types for the mobile workforce will allow FortisBC to meet their objective of consolidating IT systems across both gas and electric divisions,” emphasized David Trotter, Global VP of Sales for Clevest. “Bringing Fortis’ gas and electric utilities in BC onto a common mobile workforce management platform will streamline and improve their business processes, improve decision-making, and generate significant efficiency improvements in field productivity, worker safety and customer satisfaction.”

“We selected Clevest as the platform with which to transform our business based on a thorough selection process , the experiences of our electric division’s deployment, and the company’s impressive track record in the industry” indicated Ferenc Pataki, Director, Operations Engineering for FortisBC Energy. “We required a workforce management platform that could take our operations business unit to the next level of performance on a number of fronts, and we’re confident that Clevest Mobile Workforce Management has the breadth of functionality and flexibility to help us achieve our business goals.”

To date, 220 utilities have selected Clevest to manage their field workers, crews and contractors. Combined, the Clevest solution serves 100M+ consumers through 12,000+ mobile workers and 1,200+ dispatchers.
