Discovery Parks Appoints New CEO Paul Geyer to Spearhead Investment in BC’s Health Tech Industry

JUNE 6, 2017 – Discovery Parks has recently appointed serial entrepreneur Paul Geyer to CEO with a mandate to spearhead Nimbus Synergies Inc., an innovative investment program that will deliver a big boost to BC’s health tech sector.

Announced by Discovery Parks’ Chair of the Board, Morgan Sturdy, “After nearly 40 years of success in the property development business for the tech sector in greater Vancouver, the Board of Directors has decided on a major pivot and will now be investing our capital in early stage companies in the Health Tech Sector. We are honored to have Paul Geyer, with his vast amount of knowledge and success in the Health Tech industry, to lead us in this new direction.”

Says BC Tech’s CEO, Bill Tam, “Paul has been a key contributor to the BC Tech community for many years, having served on the board of LifeSciences BC, Social Venture Partners, Science World and the BC Tech Association. We’re excited to see Paul take up this new challenge as it will further elevate our strategic partnership with Discovery Parks and move us that much closer to our collective goal of being one of the top ten global tech ecosystems in the world.”

“Nimbus Synergies Inc. represents a new business model for Discovery Parks and highlights the shifting needs of BC’s tech industry,” explains Paul Geyer, CEO, Discovery Parks. “While in the past, emerging tech businesses looked to Discovery Parks to provide space and incubation, today this fertile industry needs business mentorship, capital investment and value creation — which is exactly what Nimbus will provide. I’m very excited to be spearheading this new vision for BC’s tech sector.”

Geyer joins Discovery Parks after a thriving 25 year career as an investor and serial entrepreneur. He’s built several successful companies, including Mitroflow International Inc., Neovasc Inc. and LightIntegra Technology Inc. that currently employ more than 500 people in BC.
