About this Award

This award acknowledges an early-stage technology company that has brought something novel and impactful to the market, that is generating revenue, attracting team members and creating significant buzz in BC’s tech ecosystem.

Who Should Apply?

Nominees in this category must be:

• Revenue positive
• Employees of 1 to 10
• Selling a technology-related product, service, solution, system or platform
• BC-based

Evaluation Criteria

The following criteria will be used to evaluate nominees:

1. Awards Pitch (max. 250 words) – 20%

This award acknowledges an early-stage technology company that has brought something novel and impactful to the market, that is generating revenue, attracting team members and generating significant buzz in BC’s tech ecosystem. Startups are the lifeblood of every tech ecosystem – tell us why your company best exemplifies a BC startup success story.

2. Business Strategy and Impact (max. 500 words) – 20%

Tell us more about your company’s business, your product, strategy and impact. What problem does your startup solve? What is your revenue model? Which customers and markets will you support? Who are your competitors? What are the wider and future implications of your startup success?

3. Business Performance (max. 500 words and high-level financial metrics) – 25%

Time to prove the case! Share with us details of your performance so far. Tell us about your product milestones and your early revenue success as well as another 2-3 key things that you track in your business to monitor growth and progress. Explain why those metrics are important.

4. Turning Points and Milestones (max. 750 words) – 35%

What was the inspiration to creating your startup? Tell us about the founders and how they came together. Tell us about the most exciting, impactful moment in your startup story so far. Tell us about the future milestones you are striving for and why those are such important indicators of success. Tell us about your potential for future impact. What about your startup story can inspire and encourage others? How did your startup demonstrate resilience in in the past year? How did you adapt, change or thrive in challenging circumstances?
