Today, the Federal government launched their highly anticipated Canadian Global Skills Strategy designed to expedite the entry of select, highly-skilled foreign workers. This is an important step forward for the whole tech community and towards BC becoming a top global tech ecosystem, innovation hub, and go-to destination for global talent.
We are pleased to announce that the BC Tech Association (BC Tech) has been selected as a Designated Referral Partner to the Ministry of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and Ministry of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and will work in coordination with BC Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training (JTST), to support the roll-out of these immigration programs by referring BC-based technology companies that meet the criteria and qualifications listed below for the Dedicated Service Channel. Additionally, BC Tech is supporting the Province and the Provincial Nominee Program, as it relates to the Canadian Global Skills Strategy. This is an exciting, complimentary Program to this initiative.
We have heard loud and clear, that access to world-class talent is the biggest and immediate challenge affecting BC tech companies’ ability to scale their businesses.
Over the last year, BC Tech has been advocating to the Federal and Provincial governments to ensure there are more effective and efficient options available to help growing tech companies meet their talent needs.
In the coming months, we look forward to further supporting the community via this immigration support and referral offering. From enabling companies to have faster access to new, highly skilled, globally located talent, to helping retain the amazing tech talent already working in BC.
