Evaluation Criteria

1. Tell us about your company (1-minute video) – 25%*

Upload a maximum 1-minute “founder-style” elevator pitch introducing your company. Please record using a phone or webcam — no professional production, editing, or AI-created videos.

2. Tell us about your startup (500 words max) – 25%*

In your written response, please address the following:
  • Describe the problem your startup solves and the size or significance of the market opportunity.
  • Explain what makes your technology unique, innovative, and/or proven to work.
  • Describe how your solution is positioned to succeed and attract customers, partners, or revenue.

3. Why should you be the BC Tech Startup of the Year? (500 words max) – 25%*

In your response, please:
  • Highlight three (3) measurable KPIs that demonstrate your company’s success and clearly differentiate it from others.
  • Describe the broader impact of your success today and the future opportunities your growth could create.

4. Reference Letter (250 words max) – 25%*

Please provide one letter of reference from someone who can speak to your company’s progress, credibility, or impact (e.g., a mentor, investor, customer, or partner).
