21 Jun 2016 Welcome to Summer: Year in Review
With the 2016 Technology Impact Awards now over, and yesterday being the official start of summer, the BC Tech Association is celebrating the end of its event season — and what a season it was!
First, let us start by thanking all of our sponsors, partners, and community members for making this year such an incredible success. We know that it takes a community working together to grow tech companies, and we have the best community out there!
Here are some highlights from our 2015-16 Events Season:
- We celebrated the 1st Anniversary of our Innovation Hub, where we had over 4,700 people come to visit us and attend events, host meetings, connect, learn, and grow.
- We partnered on more than 1,380 community events within BC’s Tech — with more being added to our Events Calendar every day!
- The first HyperGrowth cohort graduated (with distinction) and we launched the second cohort in May 2016.
- For the 10th year in a row we participated in the Microsemi Science Fair Fun Run, the largest timed 5k fun run in BC.
- In partnership with Futurpreneur, SAP, WCTBC, the Minerva Foundation, SCWIST, and WEB Alliance, we hosted WED Vancouver, the 2nd celebration of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.
- The BC Tech Association hosted 124 events including 33 Grub in The Hubs.
- Our talent events brought 269 companies together with over 1,000 job seekers, helping companies hire for key roles to keep the industry growing.
- We hosted our first FinTech event with PayPal in October, leading to the launch of our new FinTech program
- More than 500 people attended our tri-annual TechBrew events, making each a sold-out success!
- And for the second year in a row, the Technology Impact Awards were sold out as over 1,000 of our closest friends came together to celebrate the best of BC’s tech industry.

Just because BC Tech is taking a break from hosting events this summer, doesn’t mean there aren’t events to check out. Take a look at our Events Calendar to see what’s happening over the next few months. If you have an event you’d like to share, look for the green “+Post Your Event” button and share it with us!
Have an amazing summer, and stay tuned for more great events kicking off in September!
