Celebrating the dealmakers and leaders behind transformative mergers & acquisitions, or funding rounds, this award recognizes the importance of transactions that drive growth and strengthen BC’s tech ecosystem. Nominations for this award should be from the Technology Company involved in the Deal. All types of deals are welcome (Venture Capital, Private Equity, Debt, Strategic Acquisitions, IPOs, etc.)

Evaluation Criteria

1. Awards Pitch (max. 250 words) – 20%*

Tell us why your transaction should be recognized as the standout deal in British Columbia’s technology sector in the past year.

2. Background (max. 500 words) – 20%*

Provide an overview of your company’s history in BC. When were you founded, what problem do you solve, and who are your key customers? What milestones or key achievements have shaped your company’s journey? How do you company contribute to BC’s tech ecosystem through your innovations, partnerships, or leadership?

3. Financial & Business Value (max. 500 words) – 30%*

Describe the size and significance of the transaction (e.g., size, valuation, participating parties, strategic significance, market leadership). Demonstrate how it created value for stakeholders (including shareholders, employees, customers, etc.), and positioned the company for long-term scalability and success.

4. Execution & Deal Complexity (max. 500 words) – 30%*

Were there significant challenges (regulatory, operational, or financial) that were overcome? How effectively was post-deal integration or implementation managed? Include details of advisory firms involved in the transaction. What made their contributions unique or impactful to the success of the deal?

5. Finalist Filming Commitment*

If your nominated company is selected as a Finalist, both the applicant company and the nominated Technology Company will be required to provide a representative to participate in the official 2026TIAs Finalist Filming. To best showcase your Deal of the Year story, we strongly recommend a senior leader (e.g., Founder, CEO, Managing Partner, Executive Leader etc.) participate in the filming. A confirmed representative must be available, and their information is required at this stage.
