08 Dec 2016 Event Recap: FinTech Day 3
We were thrilled to deliver a sold-out event for FinTech Day 3: The Future of FinTech in Financial Institutions. Due to the high-quality presenters, a huge number of YVR FinTech community members gathered for a workshop, speaker panel, keynote, and networking opportunity.
The event was hosted by program partner FICANEX at the BC Tech Innovation Hub. Andrew Obee and Tarak Saha from FICANEX kicked off the event with an interactive workshop on Doing Business with Tier Two Financial Institutions. Bringing life experience to a challenging topic, they informed attendees of common pitfalls, how to avoid them, and how to navigate building their network.
Later on, Gary Boddington took the stage as the mediator of the Expert Panel. Chris Goodman, Mike Kelso, Andrew Obee, and Michael Artley provided the attendees with an abundant amount of insight and expertise. They addressed the timely topic of ubiquity, interoperability, and the challenge of getting innovative FinTech solutions implemented in financial solutions.
Intertwined with the events, food and drinks were consumed while FinTech startups were showcased. Grow and Wealthbar, two promising BC FinTech startups and BC Tech members, demoed their products for other tech startups, anchors, and financial institutions.
Miklos Dietz from McKinsey & Company finished off the night with a keynote presentation on the Implications of Digitalization and FinTech on the Banking Industry. He provided his perspective on gaining positive company reputations and distinctions in global business processes.
From all of us here at the BC Tech Association, we would like to extend a thank you to sponsors, presenters, and attendees helping to make FinTech Day 3 a meaningful event.
