12 May 2022 Clean tech investment of $3 million awarded to Acuva Technologies
“We are excited to receive this investment and put it towards developing and commercializing many new technologies.” — Manoj Singh, CEO
May 2, 2022 – Burnaby, BC – Acuva Technologies has recently been awarded $3 million in expansionary funding from the Government of Canada, part of a substantial investment in clean technology companies. BC has a wide variety of clean tech industries, and investments for three local companies were announced today by the Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada (PacifiCan).
A total investment of $13.4 million in BC clean technology companies was announced, with $3 million going to Burnaby-based Acuva Technologies. Funding comes from PacifiCan’s Business Scale-Up and Productivity (BSP) program, which makes strategic investments in key economic sectors and innovative companies to accelerate their growth and global expansion. Acuva’s UV-LED water purification technology can replace the need for bottled water for homeowners, office workers and travelers.
With this new investment, Acuva plans to upgrade existing product designs, commercialize innovative new technologies and bring new products to market, leading to higher revenues and at least 30 new high tech jobs. “We are excited to receive this investment and put it towards developing and commercializing many new technologies,” stated CEO and co-founder Manoj Singh. The company is launching a new whole home water treatment system this year and plans to expand UV-LED purification into other areas in the future.
The funding is part of Canada’s commitment to create jobs and to meet the target of net zero emissions by 2050. Two other BC companies in the hydrogen cell industry also received investments, Loop Energy and Core Energy Recovery Systems.
