The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) recently announced the launch of their Tech Pilot program as a way to increase the supply of tech talent within Canada. The program provides an expedited pathway to permanent residency for both internationally trained workers and international students who completed their education in Canada. Applicants for this program must have a full-time indeterminate job offer from an eligible B.C. employer for one of 32 in-demand occupations identified in the 2016 TechTalent BC Report.
The Tech Pilot program includes priority processing. Individuals who submit an application will be assigned to the technology sector team the next business day. Qualified candidates in the 32 occupations will also be chosen to receive weekly invitations to apply with the opportunity to receive a nomination that can be used to apply for permanent residence. The program features a concierge service that provides employers with timely and relevant information regarding the program and the application process, as well as, one-on-one employer support.
For individuals who have already submitted an application with BC PNP prior to the launch of the Tech Pilot program, the application will be fast-tracked once determined that it meets the criteria.
