06 Mar 2019 2019’s First TechConnect Was a Success!

We were excited to host yet another sold-out TechConnect event at the Deloitte office in Vancouver on Wednesday, February 27th.

TechConnect is BC Tech’s quarterly marquee event and the place for the tech community to gather and cultivate meaningful relationships. Powered by Deloitte, this networking event brought the tech community together for a night of demos, showcases, and connections.

The evening kicked off with a warm welcome from Lar Quigley, Senior Manager of Corporate Relations at BC Tech and Erica Pretorius, Partner, Risk Advisor at Deloitte. Showcases from featured companies followed with engaging and dynamic presentations from 10Net Managed Solutions, AbCellera, Clevest, Left, Mojio, Starfish Medical, Beanworks, and Safe Software. As always, these innovative homegrown companies had tabletop demos and spent the evening engaging in meaningful conversations with TechConnect guests.

Throughout the night, attendees took the time to network and build connections with one another. Here’s what a few had to say about their experience at TechConnect:

Brendan Cooper, Senior Manager Global Investments & Innovation Incentives at Deloitte expressed “There were high quality featured companies. From connected cars to helping the unconnected access the internet, the cross-section of technology companies really showed how far BC’s tech community has come along. There were a lot of faces I recognized but made some great new connections as well”.

Véronique Lecault, Co-Founder at AbCellera, said that TechConnect was “A wonderful event to connect BC’s vibrant tech industry across different sectors. The passion and energy from the featured companies and the crowd were palpable. It was inspiring to be in a room with such a high concentration of innovation and talent!”

Lexcy Li, Academic Alliance Manager at Aspect Biosystems, shared that “TechConnect was amazing. I met incredible people and I am so glad I was given the opportunity to learn more about the great ideas within our tech community”.

The BC Tech team is thrilled with the turnout at TechConnect and is working hard to provide the tech community with events that offer value to the ecosystem. We hope to see you at the next event in May, where we will feature more innovative companies, delicious food, demos, and of course the opportunity to make more connections with fantastic members of the tech industry.
