BC Tech launches Co-op Career Fair

Introducing BC Tech’s First Ever Co-Op Collision Day

Due to the overwhelming response from students to participate in the Co-op Collision Day on February 27 (we’re sold out and the waiting list is growing!), we are looking to provide more opportunities for involvement from our industry partners.

For our BC Tech Members, we are offering a special rate of $100/ per company (two employees per company) to attend the event and represent your company with a banner and small booth.

We also have remaining spaces for involvement at the original $350 price. At this premium rate, you will have an opportunity to pitch in front of the students, a central spot for your booth, and the opportunity to bring four employees to the event.

To get learn more and involved, please contact Sydney Goodfellow.

Never hired co-ops before?

No problem! We’ll help you through the process as much as possible by connecting you with resources and tools to source, interview, onboard, and train co-op students. Plus, we’ll connect you with information on all grants that are available for employers in BC to help subsidize costs.

About the Event

After a brief opening and networking session, each participating company is given one minute to take the stage and pitch their company to attending students. These pitches are intended to showcase not only the culture of the company but also give real examples of the kinds of projects co-op students would be working on.

For the remainder of the evening, students and companies are invited to network, build connections, and enjoy catered refreshments.

The aim of the event is to help growing tech companies build employer brand awareness with the next generation of technology talent, but also to hire co-op students should the right candidate come along.

More than 200 students will be in attendance from 8 schools across BC:

  • British Columbia Institute of Technology
  • Douglas College
  • Langara College
  • Kwantlen Polytechnic University
  • Simon Fraser University
  • University of British Columbia
  • University of the Fraser Valley
  • University of Victoria

Who qualifies to apply for this program?

  • Technology companies with 20-200 employees will be given priority
  • Must be hiring for at least 1 position that co-op students could fill

Cost:

  •  $350 for BC Tech members (booth and pitch)
  •  $500 for non-members (booth and pitch)
  • $100 to attend (with booth)
