What’s Sprouting This Spring?

A New Season Means New Opportunities

Many people question whether Vancouver even had a winter since the weather has been on its A-game lately, but believe it or not, spring has yet to officially sprung in BC. So as we prepare to usher in a new season, we’re excited to announce lots of opportunities ‘blossoming’ at the BCTIA (get it, spring, flowers, blossoms!? Okay, maybe we’re not as ‘punny’ as we thought we were.)

To help you make the most of the coming season, we want to tell you a bit more about some great opportunities available through the BCTIA to support our members and help our community grow! (get it, grow?! Wow, tough crowd…)

Grub in The Hub

If you’re familiar with the lunch n’ learn concept, you’re familiar with Grub in The Hub. Designed for busy tech entrepreneurs, Grub in The Hub offers bite-sized (another sweet pun!) information on useful day-to-day topics. Industry experts host free sessions on topics ranging from sales and marketing to employee stock options to selecting the right benefits plan for your team. Hosted during the lunch hour, attendees are encouraged to bring their lunches and eat while they learn. For upcoming topics, look for the Grub in The Hub badge in our Events Calendar!

Peer2Peer

Based on feedback from our members, one of the biggest benefits we offer is access to our smallest groups. From Customer Support & Services to Product Management, and User Experience to Marketing, BCTIA Members have exclusive access to 9 different groups spanning many different disciplines. Peer groups are a great way for individuals to come together to share their professional challenges, best practices and lessons-learned in a friendly, informal environment.

TechTalentBC

Mostly everyone working in the BC tech industry is aware of an increasing talent gap and growing competition to find qualified candidates. Last month, the BCTIA officially announced the launch of TechTalentBC and a suite of programs designed to support tech companies in their efforts to attract, train and retain top talent. We’re working with tech companies throughout BC to facilitate connections, encourage professional development and organizational growth, and promote BC as a world-class tech hub and talent destination. …and it doesn’t end here! These are just four examples of the MANY events and opportunities available through the BCTIA. To learn more or to check out what’s coming up, visit our Events Calendar and subscribe to our mailing list so you’ll always be first to know.
