Vancouver Global Shapers Hub – Call for Applications

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is an international organization “committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic, and other leaders of society to shape global, regional, and industry agendas”.

An initiative of WEF, the Global Shapers Community is a worldwide network of local community hubs led by young people who are exceptional in their potential, achievements and drive to make a positive contribution to their communities. The Community is one of several multi-stakeholder communities at the World Economic Forum, others including the Young Global Leaders, the Global Agenda Councils, and the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs.

The Global Shapers Vancouver Hub is one of over 450 around the globe that carry out grassroots initiatives to tackle some of the most pressing problems in their communities while building the capacity of tomorrow’s world leaders. Each hub is required, by the Global Shapers Community Charter, to execute at least one high impact, scalable project per year and send an annual report back to WEF.

Shapers are promising young leaders who want to build on their achievements and entrepreneurial drive to make a positive contribution to their communities. They come from a variety of socio-cultural and professional backgrounds including business, government, industry, civil society, social entrepreneurship, arts and culture.

The Vancouver Hub will comprise an exclusive group of 15-20 exceptional young leaders from the Vancouver community. This group will grow and develop through interaction with local community leaders and participation in national and global initiatives, conferences, and gatherings.
