Tech sector betting on 2010 recovery

Expected hiring should bring employment back to peak levels

After undergoing a moderate downsizing during the recession, British Columbia’s technology sector isbetting that it will be able to make a quick recovery in 2010 based on recruiting aspirations reported in arecent survey.

The B.C. Technology Industry Association estimates in a new report that the province’s technologycompanies eliminated some 4,700 or six per cent of jobs, during the economic downturn from late 2008through 2009, but the hiring surveyed firms say they intend to do is expected to bring the sector’semployment back to peak levels.
