Tech Open House Recap

Tech Open House

In collaboration with BCTechJobs, another successful Tech Open House was hosted at the BCTIA Innovation Hub on February 24, where over 120 technology professionals had the opportunity to meet (and hopefully impress) 14 hiring tech companies.

Participating companies ranged from Vancouver’s own East Side Games, Function Point, Motion Metrics, and cognitiveVR, to industry anchors like Boeing, SAP, and Global Relay. The diverse background of local talent was showcased by the group of candidates, which included Developers, Engineers, QAs, Data Analysts, Project and Product Managers, and UX Designers.

Candidates were able to explore the different opportunities at each company, introduce themselves to hiring managers, hand out resumes, and grab some cool company swag before moving on to the next booth! One of the candidates stated, “This is a really amazing event! It’s so great to be able to connect with not only companies, but also other like-minded job seekers.”

Returning companies such as BuildDirect, Simba Technologies, Aquatic Informatics, and Traction on Demand continued to rave about the quality of candidates, and first-timers like Eventbase Technology and Point Grey Research were really impressed with the turnout and had nothing but positive reviews at the end of the night. Sydney Bellack, HR Director at Central 1 Credit Union, stated, “What a great event! Our team had fun and was very impressed with the quality of candidates.” Central 1, CognitiveVR, and East Side Games are all recent members of the BCTIA and have already taken advantage of one of our many talent programs!

We are so thrilled that this event was valuable for both companies and candidates, and we are counting down the days to our next talent event!
