Go North Canada Meetup Recap

Go North Canada Meetup Recap

BC Tech headed down to Mountain View, California on November 29th with Communitech, Google Canada, Hootsuite, BC Tech Jobs, Oracle NetSuite, Thalmic Labs, TextNow, Flipp, and Artemis Recruitment to spread the word about the booming Canadian tech scene at a sold out Go North Canada meetup. The event, hosted at Tied House, brought together over 100 Canadian expats who are working in the Silicon Valley and interested in coming back home. Attendees had a chance to find out about the Canadian tech sector and its job opportunities from company representatives, and share their resumes in a casual evening of networking and great food.

Ryan St. Germaine, CEO of BC Tech Jobs, remarked that “The tech market in BC is booming. There are opportunities in all areas and companies are finding it very challenging to hire great people. With over 9000 tech companies in BC, and over 3000 jobs available every month, this is a fantastic time for anybody to grow a career in an industry that surpasses other industries’ salaries by 60%. Initiatives like Go North are critical for us to spread the word on our amazing success story, and fill our current talent gap.”

Go North Canada

Companies were very impressed with the caliber of talent available and their true desire to come home to Canada given the right opportunity. However, these amazing professionals still have surprisingly little information about the tech job market in BC, and we are excited to embrace the huge opportunity ahead of us to tell the compelling BC tech story to the world with the support of our community. This is the first of many Go North Canada events to come, and we hope other BC tech organizations are able to join us at future initiatives to inspire top-notch tech talent to come home.

Go North Canada is a partnership of tech-focused organizations across the country that believe Canada is the best place in the world to build and run a tech company. We recognize there is a wealth of Canadian talent abroad that have the experience we need to grow and scale our companies in Canada, and we are working together to make sure that Canadians everywhere know about all the career opportunities available here.
