About this Award

This award acknowledges a company that is an established leader in the BC technology industry. Winners of this award exemplify financial, strategic, and product or service excellence, and are widely recognized as anchors of BC’s tech ecosystem.

Who Should Apply?

Nominees in this category must be:

  • Revenue of $50M+
  • more than five years old and have 200+ employees
  • Selling a technology-related product, service, solution, system or platform
  • BC-based

Evaluation Criteria

The following criteria will be used to evaluate nominees:

1. Awards Pitch (max. 250 words) – 20%

This award acknowledges a company that is an established leader in the BC technology industry. Winners of this award exemplify financial, strategic, and product or service excellence, and are widely recognized as anchors of BC’s tech ecosystem. Tell us how you define an anchor company, what value anchor companies bring to BC’s tech ecosystem and why your company best exemplifies what this award celebrates.

2. Business Strategy and Impact (max. 500 words) – 20%

Tell us more about your company’s business strategy and impact. For instance – What are you known for? Why is your company and its continued success important to BC and the world? What business are you in and why do your products/solutions matter? What customers and markets do you support? What are your employees uniquely adept at? What are the wider and future implications of your business success?

3. Business Performance (max. 500 words and high-level financial metrics) – 25%

Time to prove the case! Share with us details of your business performance to demonstrate your success. Please provide summary data on your revenue and market share for the last 3 years as well as information on 2-3 other key metrics that you use in your business to drive and measure business performance and why those metrics are so important to your business success.

4. Turning Points and Milestones (max. 750 words) – 35%

Emerging as a BC Anchor is a huge accomplishment with wide-ranging benefits to the economy and ecosystem. What were some of the biggest milestones in your anchor journey? What opportunities or challenges did you face along the way? What are some examples of the positive impact you and your team have made as an anchor leader in BC’s tech ecosystem? How did your company demonstrate resilience in the past year? How did you adapt, change or thrive in challenging circumstances?
