2018 Annual Giving Campaign

2018 Annual Giving Campaign

The Tech Collective’s Annual Campaign is an opportunity for BC companies to collectively bring STEM education to underrepresented groups in our community and addressing social issues affecting our communities.

We are partnering with Technovation; an organization that empowers girls to learn and apply the skills needed to solve real-world problems through technology. They are the largest technology entrepreneurship program in the world for girls ages 10-18. With SFU as the official local Technovation partner, they engaged 20 groups of girls last year, and our hope is to double that to 40, with your involvement.

Commitment

When you join the annual campaign, you are committing to:

  • Providing 6 mentors from your company (3 mentors per group of girls)
  • Choosing a local public school close to your business (SFU & Technovation Student Ambassador can assist). Schools will play a role in selecting two teams of girls
  • Meeting regularly with the teams and occasionally provide a space for them to work
  • Attending the pitch event in May 2018
  • Donating to the Campaign through Chimp (tax receipt given) for collective donation.
    • Contribution amounts vary depending on size of organization: 1-10 employees give $500 / 11-50 give $1k / 50+ give $1.5k
    • 90% of the funds will be directed through the school board to your partner school for technology-related items or programs and 10% will be directed to SFU and Technovation to support the local pitch competition
