Surrey’s Anchor Technology Company Safe Software Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of New HQ with BC Tech Partnership

Partnership brings BC Tech programs and workshops to Surrey hosted at Safe Software

Surrey, B.C. (December 11, 2019)

Safe Software, one of Surrey’s largest technology companies, is celebrating a milestone one-year anniversary since moving into its new Surrey headquarters at the Health and Technology District, with the announcement of a new partnership with BC Tech Association to bring their innovative programs and workshops to Surrey, hosted at Safe Software.

Safe Software made the partnership announcement last night at the open house for its new headquarters with its more than 170 employees, plus partners, customers and community dignitaries.

“As one of Surrey’s largest technology company, we are a made-in-Surrey success story, and we grew from humble beginnings in a basement office to an internationally renowned company with more than 170 employees,” says Don Murray, Co-Founder and President of Safe Software.

“Surrey has always been our home and we are proud to continue to support the city and the communities where we live and work. We are excited to embark on a new era of Safe Software at our new HQ at the Health and Technology District, and this partnership with BC Tech will not only enable us to continue our commitment to help Surrey grow but also to help businesses in Surrey flourish,” says Dale Lutz, Co-Founder and Vice President of Development at Safe Software.

The Safe Software BC Tech Surrey Series will bring the innovative programs and workshops to Surrey so that Surrey and Fraser Valley residents have access to them without needing to commute to Vancouver. The Surrey Series will include tech leadership roundtables, panel discussions and workshops hosted at Safe Software’s offices beginning in 2020.

“Surrey and the Fraser Valley is home to a growing technology sector and it is important to focus on helping educate, attract and retain home-grown talent in this region to help tech businesses thrive,” says Jill Tipping, BC Tech President and CEO. “We are excited to partner with Safe Software as one of Surrey’s largest technology companies, to provide tech networking opportunities and resources to this region’s innovation industry.”

Safe Software moved into the City Centre 2 building at the Health and Technology District in 2018, after spending 20 years at its original Surrey location, in order to accommodate the company’s growth. The new Safe Software HQ is located amongst a busy cluster of innovators, entrepreneurs, clinicians, and healthcare providers, and the opportunity to collaborate with these companies is a big reason Safe Software decided on the location.

Its new HQ boasts 57,000 sq. ft. of space occupying the top five floors of the City Centre 2 building with 360-degree views of the North Shore Mountains and Mount Baker and features a private 6,000 sq. ft. green rooftop terrace. The new space features 196 individual offices, 19 meeting rooms, 8 informal collaboration spaces, a large staff cafeteria/lounge and an in-house fitness centre complete with showers and day lockers.

Safe Software is a major community supporter, recently donating $1-million to the Surrey Hospital Foundation to kick off the Children’s Health Centre Renewal campaign and its team members are strong believers of supporting and investing in local youths and future generations.
