This award acknowledges an early-stage technology company that is generating revenue, and demonstrates significant potential, creativity, and promise for the future.

Who Should Apply?

This award is open to companies that are:

  • Early-stage in the company lifecycle
  • Generating revenue with a product or service in market
  • Typically less than 3 years old, employing fewer than 30 employees
  • Producing a technology-focused product or service
  • BC-based (head office and/or full-time presence in BC)

Evaluation Criteria

The application process will require that the following questions are answered. Please use the information below to help prepare your application prior to submission.

  1. Company Description - A summary of the company, similar to what would be used at the end of a press release. 100 words maximum.
  2. Company History - Describe the origin and founding of the company, including key dates. 300 words maximum.
  3. Leadership Team - Provide a brief background on your core team members, board, and advisors. 300 words maximum.
  4. Company Impact - Describe the impact your organization has made on your customers and employees, the community where you are located, and/or the BC economy in general. 500 words maximum.
  5. Value Proposition (500 words maximum)
    • What problem are you solving?
    • For whom?
    • What is your revenue model? 
  6. Competitive Differentiator (500 words maximum)
    • What differentiates your product or solution from other similar solutions?
    • What is your sustainable competitive advantage?
  7. Market Opportunity (500 words maximum)
    • Describe in detail the market segment you are targeting.
    • How large is the potential opportunity of this market?
    • Describe the competitive landscape.
